This weekend I went to an event for Scout Leaders known as Gilwell Reunion, held annually in Gilwell Park near London.
Five minutes before leaving, disaster struck – I couldn’t find my camping chair! Thus ensued a mad rush to find it in the garage. Minutes later I had found it, but alas – there was no back on it!
(The chair is a canvas directors style chair from Tesco – the back is removable.)
I searched everywhere, but with time ticking by I resolved to improvise when getting there (throwing in a roll of gaffa tape for good measure.)
So through the weekend (having left the tape in the car) I improvised with blankets, towels, carrier bags, tshirts, the list goes on. But each vain attempt to make a chair comfortable and sturdy enough to lie back in failed.
