Jerusalem Trip: Prologue

Shabbat shalom!

Over the next few days I’m going to be blogging about my little suare to the holy lands as it happens so thought I’d write a nice little introduction.

I’m currently sitting in the bar of the Ibis hotel Luton airport, which is a nice place to stay if you’re flying from here (its a bit awkward to get to – the airport that is).

Tomorrow at 11.10 am my flight from Luton to Ben Guiron airport Tel Aviv (Israel) leaves. I believe it lands about 7pm local time so I will have missed the Sabbath (Jewish holy day) as it runs from friday dusk to saturday dusk. I will then catch a sherut to Jerusalem where I am staying in the Montefiore hotel in modern Jerusalem (about 1k from the Old City).

Sunday I will visit the Jewish and Muslim quarters of the city and go see the Temple Mount and Western Wall, before exploring the street markets and soukhs.

Monday I will visit the Garden Tomb, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, David Citadel museum and see the Tower of David lightshow in the evening.

Tuesday is pretty much unplanned. I may go look at some of Modern Jerusalem or go do some souvenir hunting. I will then head back to Tel Aviv for my flight back to the UK.

So thats a brief intro. I will do updates at least daily, post pictures here, on Twitter and Instagram and probaly Tweet whenever I have wifi so stay tuned!
